Outback Steakhouse is an Australian themed steakhouse restaurant. In the menu, a good portion is made by beef and steak items, and a variety of chicken, ribs, seafood, and pasta dishes are offered by the concept. Strategy of the company is to differentiate its restaurants by emphasizing consistently high-quality food and service, generous portions at moderate prices and a casual atmosphere suggestive of the Australian Outback. An American casual dining restaurant chain, Outback Steakhouse is headquartered in Tampa, Florida, with over 900 locations in 21 countries throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Outback Steakhouse was founded by Bob Basham, Chris T. Sullivan, Trudy Cooper and Tim Gannon in February, 1988.
Outback Steakhouse experts in USDA Choice and Prime steaks and other offerings in an Australian-inspired environment. OSI Restaurant Partners, and franchise and venture agreements internationally owned and operated Outback Steakhouse in the United States. It entered the South Korean market through the franchise agreement with Aussie Chung Inc. presently, there are 101 Outback Steakhouse locations throughout South Korea. OSI Restaurant Partners completed a stock repurchase plan on 14 June 2007 and the company is now privately held. Outback Steakhouse Canada abruptly closed all 9 locations in the province of Ontario, citing poor economic conditions in March 2009. An Outback restaurant reopened in Niagara Falls in June 2009. In Edmonton, Alberta, three Outback locations continue to operate. In 1996, Canadian Outback restaurants was started.
